Apply and remove voucher codes on a booking
You can apply a voucher code on a customer booking directly in Easol. This is useful for adding items to a booking at a discount. Voucher codes can also be removed, including those that resulted from promotions or voucher codes that were originally applied to a booking made online.
Booking edits have been built with efficiency in mind, so you can make multiple edits (e.g. add/remove items, apply a voucher code, and edit guest information) in one update.
Note: Bookings can only have one voucher code applied at a time. If the booking you’re going to edit already has a voucher code applied to it, you’ll need to remove the voucher code from the items first. Then, reapply the code or apply a new code.
How to apply voucher codes on a booking
Before getting started, make sure you've created a valid voucher code.
- Go to Bookings > All Bookings in your dashboard and select the Booking Reference of the booking you want to edit.
- Click Actions and select Edit.
- Tip: If you're planning on adding new items to the booking, we recommend doing that first as new items will not be automatically discounted after a voucher code is applied.
- Click Add voucher code in the booking summary box to the right of the page.
- Note: If there are already vouchers applied to the booking, you'll first need to remove them before you can see this option.
- Enter the voucher code and click Apply.
- Note: Only a single voucher code can be applied to a booking.
- If the code is valid it will be applied to any eligible items in the customer’s order.
- Once you’re happy with the booking edit, click Update booking.
The voucher code is now applied to the booking and the update will be recorded in the booking timeline.
Tip: We recommend resending a booking confirmation email to the customer after editing a booking. You can do this under the Timeline.
How to remove voucher codes from a booking
- Go to Bookings > All Bookings in your dashboard and select the Booking Reference of the booking you want to edit.
- Click Actions and select Edit.
- Next, locate the voucher code on the edit page and click Remove. To undo this edit, simply click Restore on the voucher code.
- On the edit screen, you can also add/remove items, edit guest information and change modifier selections.
- Once you’re happy with the booking edit, click Update booking. You also have the option to resend a booking confirmation email to the customer (recommended!).
The voucher code is now removed from the booking and the update will be recorded in the booking timeline.
If this change creates a pending payment status, you can copy and send the Payment Link to the customer so that they can easily log into their account and pay the balance online.
FAQ
I don't see the option to apply a voucher code — what's going on?
This most likely means that there's already a voucher code applied to the booking. To fix this, you'll first need to remove any existing voucher codes on the booking and then apply a new voucher code. Note that you can only have one voucher code active per booking.
Can I apply voucher codes with a monetary discount (instead of a percentage discount)?
Yes! The discounted value will be converted from your company's home currency to your customer's home currency (if they are different).
Can I add new items to a booking with a voucher code?
Yes! However, the new items will not be automatically discounted by the voucher code. If you'd like the new items to be covered by an existing voucher code, you'll first need to remove any existing voucher codes on the booking, add the new items and then apply a new voucher code.
Can I add further discounts?
Yes! You can apply discounts on items that have been discounted by a voucher code, so that you can set the exact cost for the booking.
