Design a custom booking journey

Custom booking journeys allow you to create a personalised booking experience for your customers, offering more flexibility than the standard Easol shop pages. By using theme blocks, you can design a unique and seamless booking journey that suits your specific needs and enhances your customers' experience.

Custom booking journeys are available on both Alchemist and Nomadic themes. Please note that if you are using a custom theme, these features may not be available to you.

How to create a custom booking journey

1. Design the starting page
   • Being by designing a site page that will serve as the starting point of your booking journey.
   • You can select from pre-built, templated pages such as "Book Experiences", "Book Accommodations", or "Book Packages".
   • Alternatively, build your own custom site page using blocks from the booking journey blocks in the block library, such as "Breadcrumbs", "Cart", or "Book Variants".
2. Configure each block
   • Since the booking journey is fully customisable, it's important to review and configure the Booking Journey configuration settings for each block and each site page.
   • Select the variants to display from any number of products.
   • Don't forget to update the links in the Breadcrumbs block on each site page of the booking journey to guide users correctly through the journey. 
3. Design additional pages
   • If your booking journey will include tickets, accommodations, or extras, you may consider separating these into different booking journey pages.
4. Test the journey
   • Before making your custom journey live, test the entire process as if you were a customer. Add and remove items in the cart and go through the booking journey to ensure everything works as expected.
5. Update the products
   • Once you're satisfied with your customer journey, replace the standard Easol cart with your new booking experience.
     1. Go into the experience you'd like to connect to the booking journey and navigate to the Settings tab.
     2. Under the customise your booking experience dropdown, select the site page you want as the starting point for your booking journey.
     3. When a customer clicks the "Book" button on the experience page, they will be redirected to the page you selected as the start of your booking journey instead of the standard Easol shop page.
     4. Repeat these steps for any other products.
