Create pages and add content to your website
Easol website themes are designed to sell any experience, anywhere. Each theme sets the design of your website and contains a block library that you can use to build your website’s pages and content.
How to create a new website page
Create with page layouts
Page layouts are pre-built pages created with your theme's blocks by UX experts. This is a quick and easy way to create pages. All page layouts can be customised — you can edit content, add and remove blocks.
- Go to Site and select the site version you'd like to update.
- Click on Add a page and give your page a title. Hit Create.
- Next, select a page layout (e.g. Homepage).
- To edit the page content, hover your cursor over the preview and click the pencil icon. In the sidebar, fill in the block's fields — the available fields depend on the type of block you’re adding.
- To add blocks to the page, hover your cursor over the preview between the header and footer, click Add Block and select a block from the block library. Your theme determines what blocks are available. Learn more about using the block library.
- Preview changes instantly. Hit Save.
- In the sidebar, click Back to page and select Publish to make the page public and viewable by everyone.
Create with blank page
Use a blank layout page to build a page from scratch with blocks.
- Go to Site and select the site version you'd like to update.
- Click on Add a page and give your page a title. Hit Create.
- Next, select Create a blank page.
- To add content to the new page, hover your cursor over the preview between the header and footer, click Add Block and select a block from the block library. Your theme determines what blocks are available. Learn more about using the block library.
- Preview changes instantly. Hit Save.
- To continue building out your page, click Add Block above or below your existing block in the live preview.
- In the sidebar, click Back to page and select Publish to make the page public and viewable by everyone.
How to duplicate an existing website page
- Go to Site and select the site version you'd like to update.
- Locate the page you'd like to duplicate and click the three-dot icon.
- Select Duplicate.
- You will be redirected to a copy of the page you duplicated. Edit the page and blocks as usual.
- Tip: Clean up the URL of the new page by changing the link.
- Click Publish to make the page public and viewable for everyone.
Note: All blocks and their content will be duplicated, however, metadata will not.
How to turn a page into a homepage
- Go to Site and select the site version you'd like to update.
- Locate the page you'd like to duplicate and click the three-dot icon.
- Select Set as homepage.
How to change the URL of a page
- Go to Site and select the site version you'd like to update.
- Select a page.
- Under Link, change the URL. You can also change the title of your page.
- Click Save to publish changes.
After changing a URL, we recommend creating a 301 redirect to ensure anyone who visits the old URL will get redirected to the new URL.
Guidelines for formatting URL slugs
- Use a short, memorable URL to make it easier for visitors to find and share your content.
- Separate each word with a dash (-), for example /your-great-experience not /yourgreatexperience.
- All letters should be lowercase.
- Do not include special characters other than dashes (-).
How to delete a website page
- Go to Site and select the site version you'd like to update.
- Locate the page you'd like to duplicate and click the three-dot icon.
- Select Delete.
Note: This action is permanent and cannot be undone.
