Create promotions and vouchers
There are two key ways to offer discounts to customers and drive sales:
- Promotions – Limited time discounts that are visible to all website visitors and are automatically applied at checkout. Promotions can be set as a:
- Monetary amount, e.g. $20 off.
- Percentage amount, e.g. 20% off.
- Voucher Codes – Unique discount codes that customers must manually apply at checkout, or that you can apply to eligible items in a customer's booking, via your dashboard. Voucher codes can be set as a:
- Monetary amount, e.g. $20 off.
- Percentage amount, e.g. 20% off.
- Buy one get one free (BOGOF).
Promotions and voucher codes can be applied to a single variant (e.g. specific ticket type of an experience or room type of an accommodation), an extra or all the variants and extras of an experience or accommodation.
Note: If you've added multiple start dates to your experience, voucher codes will be applied to all upcoming departure dates on the experience for the selected Variants or Extras.
How to set up promotions
- Go to Marketing > Promotions.
- Click Create Promotion and fill in the details:
- Name – Used to keep track of your promotions internally; this name will not be displayed anywhere on the website for customers.
- Category – Choose between early release, special offer or last minute.
- Percentage discount – Toggle on to set the discount as a percentage of the total price (e.g. 20% off). If disabled, the discount will be a monetary amount (e.g. $20 off).
- Discount amount – The monetary or percentage amount for the discount.
- Dates – The start and expiry date of the promotion. Leave blank to apply the promotion indefinitely.
- Next, select the experiences and/or accommodations that the promotion applies to.
- Click Create to publish changes.
- A default tagline is displayed on the website (e.g. “Get 20% off the total balance”) but you can override this by editing the Tagline. Make sure to hit Save when done.
How to set up voucher codes
- Go to Marketing > Voucher codes.
- Click Create Voucher Code and input a combination of letters and/or numbers for the Code. We recommend keeping it short and memorable. Make sure to remove any spaces.
- Next, configure the Rules of your voucher code:
- Category – Type of voucher you want to create (monetary, percentage or BOGOF).
- Limit – Total number of times the voucher can be redeemed.
- The limit is per unit (or variant), i.e. if a limit of 2 is set and 2 variants are selected the code has reached its limit.
- The voucher cannot be limited to a specific user. If required, set up separate voucher codes for multiple user redemptions.
- Minimum quantity – The minimum number of units a customer must purchase for the voucher to be valid.
- Applies automatically – Toggle on to automatically apply the voucher code at checkout for all customers. We recommend this for BOGOF offers only.
- Expires on – Voucher code’s expiry date. Leave blank to keep the voucher valid indefinitely.
- Next, select the experiences and/or accommodations that the voucher code applies to. Alternatively, you can toggle on apply to all products to apply the voucher to all experiences and accommodations (including all variants and extras).
- Click Create to publish changes.
Tip: We always recommend testing voucher codes at checkout before sharing them with customers to ensure that they work as expected.
