Create a flash sale
Flash sales are special, limited-time promotions with the goal of selling out a set inventory of tickets or items for your experience. It’s a great way to generate hype and boost sales. However, if you expect a large volume of traffic to your website, we recommend some special preparations to ensure your promotion runs smoothly.
Best practices for creating a flash sale
Plan for high-volume traffic
At Easol, we dynamically scale our infrastructure to meet your needs. If you expect a large volume of traffic to your website, we recommend getting in touch with our team to ensure your promotion runs smoothly.
For example, if you sell an average of 20-25 experiences per day and you plan on running a campaign that is expected to generate 250-300 sales per day – a 10x multiple – this will require some extra preparation.
Our team can help you preempt high-volume traffic as well as implement an advanced queueing system to ensure people can checkout in the order they arrive. Get in touch at support@easol.com for more information.
Set up your flash sale offer
There are two ways to set up special offers on Easol:
- Promotions
Promotions are limited time discounts that are visible to all website visitors and are automatically applied at checkout.
Promotions can be set as a:
- Monetary amount, e.g. $20 off.
- Percentage amount, e.g. 20% off.
If you plan on using promotions for your flash sale, we recommend creating it in advance and setting the start and end date according to your flash sale. For more information, check out our guide for setting up promotions.
- Voucher Codes
Voucher Codes are unique discount codes that customers must manually apply at checkout.
Voucher codes can be set as a:
- Monetary amount, e.g. $20 off.
- Percentage amount, e.g. 20% off.
- Buy one get one free (BOGOF).
Voucher codes are recommended if your flash sale offer only applies to a minimum order (e.g. 20% off for 4 or more tickets) or it’s BOGOF.
If you plan on using voucher codes for your flash sale, we recommend creating it in advance, setting an expiry date and, if applicable, activating Applies automatically when the flash sale starts. For more information, check out our guide for setting up voucher codes.
Review experience, website and company settings
Before your flash sale, we recommend double checking the settings for your experiences, website and companies to avoid any issues:
- Are all your experiences, accommodations and extras set up?
- Are all your variants accurate?
- Have you merchandised your experiences/accommodations?
- Are your booking notifications switched on?
- Did you set up a welcome email?
- Have you set up guest fields to collect guest details during and after checkout?
- Is Google Analytics installed and is it accurately recording traffic?
- Is Facebook Pixel installed and is it accurately recording events?
- Are your customer payment methods set up correctly?
- Are your payment and bank details accurate?
- Did you set customer terms and conditions?
- If you are selling tickets, have you synced your variants with Easol Access?
Create a landing page for your flash sale
To optimise your flash sale for conversions, you may want to consider creating a dedicated landing page on your website. Creating and customising a website page on Easol is quick and easy with website themes. You can use your theme’s block library to display the experiences that are part of your flash sale, along with any other content, such as images and videos.
