Group Pay: Calculating Guest Shares
Customers can assign items to each guest so they know how much to pay. Sometimes customers will purchase different items and add-ons than the other members of their group, so it doesn’t always make sense to split the cost of the booking evenly.
Once a lead booker sets up guests, the lead booker will be able to assign items to them. Easol will calculate the suggested share amount based on their individual items - so no one is stuck paying more than they need to.
- Assignable items are items in the booking that have at least the basic guest fields (name, email address) turned on.
- Non-assignable items are items in the booking that do not have guest fields turned on.
The calculation principles are as follows:
- Assign the full price of each assignable per person variant to the guest it is assigned to.
- Assign an equal share of the price of each assignable per unit variant to all guests it is assigned to.
- Assign an equal share of the price of each non-assignable variant to all guests on the booking.
For example:
Item | Assigned to | John's share | Jane's share |
Festival ticket x2: 200 |
John x 1 Jane x 1 |
100 | 100 |
Double Room x1: 300 | John and Jane | 150 | 150 |
Spa treatment: 50 | Jane | 0 | 50 |
Car parking pass: 50 | Nobody | 25 | 25 |
Total: 600 | 275 | 325 |
