Collect tips from customers at checkout
Collect tips from your customers at checkout with three pre-defined tipping options for customers to choose from, or the option for customers to enter a custom tip amount.
Tips are calculated based on the booking value before tax, and are also not subject to taxes.
If your customer has selected booking protection, the tip will not be calculated to include the cost of the booking protection. Booking protection also does not cover tips.
To view financial details of gratuities on bookings, view the Bookings report and the Transactions report, under Data & Insights > Reports in your account.
Set up gratuities to collect tips
- Under Settings > Payments, scroll down to Collect tips.
- Toggle on the button Customers can tip at checkout.
- (Optional) Include a Description which can be helpful information for your customers about tips and what they support.
- Set three pre-defined tip percentage options for customers to choose from.
- Click Save.
Edit bookings with tips
Tips can be added to a customer's booking either before or after checkout.
- Before checkout: Include a tip as part of a Recommendation.
- After checkout: Add a tip via the booking edit feature by clicking Actions > Edit on a booking.
Customers will have the option to accept, edit, or remove the tip you added prior to paying. This ensures that the tip amount is voluntary and cannot be defined as a service charge (which then becomes taxable).
Tip payments are recorded as events in the Booking Timeline, and can be removed and refunded in bookings, if needed.
