Understand Booking Protection
Booking Protection is an insurance service offered to your end customers, facilitated through Cover Genius, a trusted third party provider Easol partners with. With Booking Protection, your customers can protect their purchase at checkout and request a refund should they need to cancel for unforeseen circumstances.
All claims and costs are managed by Cover Genius so there is no extra effort or loss of revenue for your business.
Coverage details
Customers gain access to comprehensive coverage for a fee equivalent to 7-10% of their booking total (depending on region), entitling them to a refund if they are unable to attend the experience due to any of the covered reasons.
The scope of coverage may vary depending on the region, with specific conditions and reasons outlined in that region’s policy. The following reasons are typically covered across all policies:
- Transportation disruption
- Accident or illness of ticket holder or member of immediate family
- Jury or military duty
- Personal emergency (e.g. burglary or fire)
- Extreme weather
- Pregnancy
Purchasing Booking Protection
If Booking Protection is enabled, customers will have the option to add this at checkout. The Booking Protection fee is seamlessly collected as part of their payment towards the booking.
While the Booking Protection fee portion is collected with the booking payment, it does not constitute part of your business’s revenue. Therefore, it is excluded from item-level transactions, fees, and payouts.
- If a customer purchases using a payment plan, the Booking Protection fee will be collected at the time of the first instalment.
- If a customer purchases using a deposit, the Booking Protection fee will be collected at the time of the initial deposit.
Booking Protection terms
When offering insurance through Easol, you acknowledge and agree to adhere to the following terms:
- Easol may offer your customers insurance that covers their ability to attend an experience in certain circumstances.
- Offering insurance is typically an activity regulated by the State, and Easol will make sure that we are legally able to perform such an activity in each of the relevant regions.
- As a result of this, you will not be able to work with other third party cancellation insurance providers and agree to use our approved partner, Cover Genius.
- Similarly, if a customer contacts you with a question or concern with regard to any insurance taken out through Easol, including but not limited to a claim or complaint about such insurance, please ensure that you do not deal with these requests yourself. Instead, you must refer such matters to Cover Genius by forwarding the correspondence or request to partners.support@xcover.com.
Eligibility
Booking Protection is only offered to your customers if your business’s trading address is in Australia, the United States, United Kingdom, or a member state of the European Union. If the trading address condition is met, Cover Genius determines eligibility for coverage using the earliest start date of the booking and the customer’s billing address.
- If the earliest start date in the booking is more than two years away, the booking is not eligible.
- If the earliest start date in the booking is less than two years away, the following rules apply.
Coverage limits may vary by region. If a customer attempts to make a booking that exceeds the regional coverage, insurance will not be offered during the checkout process.
- US specific: The booking value limit is less than $10k.
- EU specific: The booking value limit is less than ~€3k.

*The policy is offered to EU billing addresses in the following countries: FR, IE, DE, NL, BE, ES, IT, AT, SE, and CZ.
**The policy is not offered to customers in the following countries regardless of your trading address: Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Afghanistan, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Iraq, Sudan, and South Sudan.
